Now Offering Coaching Services to Savvy Webpreneurs Who Want to Take Their Businesses to the Next Level

CoachingLast December (2015), one Ariel Rule (such a brilliant and sweet lady) and Gina Horkey put their heads together. They joined forces (Game of Thrones theme song plays) and merged empires for the greater good!

Dramatic? Maybe. But what they did, what they built, is the reason I’m writing this right now.

Have I peaked your attention?

Good.

Mamapreneur Mastermind Group: Origin Story

We, the 30-Days-or-Less alumni (we’re all members of the private Facebook group exclusive only to students of either of Gina’s courses) had been trying to figure out a way to put together groups, mastermind groups, of folks who shared similar situations. I’m not sure if any of them got off the ground. But I know of a few who tried but fizzled out when the newly formed, spin-off groups lost interest.

Meanwhile, Gina was already working on it. Here she is in her own words in an email she sent me back in December 2015:

“Earlier this year we had this vision of uniting the best mompreneurs on the planet in one place and we’re finally ready to pull the trigger. We have 12 charter member spots available [sic] and we would like to invite you to claim one of them.

“Basically, we’ve learned a ton, love teaching others how to scale up, but have limited time for one-on-one coaching. And we know that we’ll all go farther together than we will on our own. So we decided to start an affordable paid mastermind on an invite-only basis to accomplish this.

“The best part is that the group will be filled with the best of the best from multiple online industries. I.e. it’s not going to be just writers. It’s going to be a group of women ready to do BIG THINGS in 2016. Will you be one of them?”

Trigger pulled, I filled out my application, a Cheshire cat’s grin upon my face. I’m one of them.

Mamapreneur Mastermind Group: Presently

I joined the group in Mid-January and am one of the charter members. It’s a lot like the private, 30DOL Facebook groups but more focused. We can be ourselves because we understand each other. Under our Wonder Woman capes, we’re all just a bunch of mamas running around with screaming babies in poopie diapers and deadlines we make by the skin of our teeth.

Since we began, the Gals (Gina & Ariel) have posed challenges for us designed to push us farther forward down the road to success. I’ve purposely abstained (I may have even forgotten about the first one. Sorry, Gina!) from most of them because my plate was pretty full up until late-March. But that another story!

There’s more to it than just that, though. We have a book club going, reading Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World by Michael Hyatt. To boot, there’s even talk of us planning a field trip to Disneyland in the future! Imagine, 30-something of us 30-something-year-olds riding the teacups at Disneyland? Oh, yeah! Of course, it’s only a maybe at this point, but stranger things have happened.

What can I say? Moms never really grow up.

The #21DayChallenge

We’ve arrived at the reason, the force making this all happen.

This month (April 2016, in case you’re reading this from the future), the mamas were asked to come up with a mini-goal and spend the next 21-days moving toward it.

It’s day 11, and I’m sitting here, typing away at Day 2’s assignment.

It would seem as though I’m a bit…behind…

Or, am I?

You probably noticed (Thank you, dear reader – maybe there’s one of you – for noticing) that I’ve made a few changes to this site over the last few days. My dear, it’s all been in preparation for the next thing, my next chapter.

Coaching Services: Coming Soon to The Freelance Dance

My mini-goal for the #21DayChallenge was to further diversify my online business into coaching others, to motivate other starving freelancers (not too long ago, it was almost me) in hopes of helping someone get there faster than I have.

To think that I started with nothing (little more than the clothes on my back and a 6-pack of Ramen noodles in the pantry) and am now okay. I’m not being evicted. I finally bought a pair of shoes to replace my torn ones. But none of it has been easy. I’ve been lucky, sure. But business, all business, is one big prom, a dance. Whether or not you succeed and get to dance again has a lot to do with who you are and how much energy you’re willing to put into building the life you want.

I had nothing to lose back in October 2015. In those days (only, like, 6 months ago), I spent more time in the hospital than home with my family. My lymphoma, although no longer at its peak, was still the object of much of my dismay.

Where the fury was born from, I don’t know. But I was tired and pissed off.

Something had to give. I had to make a mountain move.

Lift as You Climb

So here’s the big announcement:

In a few days, I’ll write a post dishing out the deets of my newest service offering. I’m currently working to update my website to include a place for a “Coaching Services” tab in the “Hire Me” section. It’ll contain all you need to know about how coaching works. And you’ll be able to book coaching conversations right from there! Neat, huh?

While I’ve never worked formally as a coach, I am the mother of seven kids, five of them are girls, three of them, teenage girls. I’ve learned more than my fair share about how to best advise and help motivate others. In addition, I’ve worked in leadership roles all my life. Even in college, I was the Head Nerd of all the Nerd Clubs!

I’m ready for it! Are you?

Curious? Check out the series that started it all, My Sweet November. You can’t be too nice while blogging every day. But while writing the series, I tried my hardest to be as honest as I could be about the good, bad, thrilling, and confusing about learning the ins and outs of the online world of business.

Coaching: Day 1

Although I’m open to taking on a few clients now, my “official” start date isn’t for two more days. My Coaching Services, Hire Me page will go live sometime tonight. At that time, I’ll be up and running on an official capacity as a coach. I can’t wait!
If you’re interested and want to get in ahead of everyone else, shoot me an email, and we’ll set something up. Because of time constraints, I’ll only have a few spots available, so get in fast!

My Why

Six months in, my motivating factor hasn’t changed. Every day I’m still afraid that if I sit still and don’t find new revenue streams I’ll lose a client and we’ll be right back in the hell hole I’ve worked so hard to claw my way out of.

That’s my why. It’s why I’m willing to take on the responsibilities that come with coaching someone and teaching them to avoid your mistakes and stay the course. I lived it. If I got out of it (with 7 kids and cancer) anyone can, YOU can!

I’ve learned to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. It works for me since I work better under a bit of pressure.

Final Thoughts

MM’s 21-Day-Challenge gave the idea. It sparked the, “Hmm…What if I…,” that became the next chapter of my career, offering one-on-one coaching services to other entrepreneurs.

As far as the group goes, I’m thrilled to be a part of such an amazing group of Wonder Women! Honestly, I don’t think I’d even be thinking about this at this stage in my career.

It’s not that I’m afraid of failure. I’ve just been there and been one far too many times in my life.

What’s next after coaching?

I’ve actually started on the very early stages of writing my first course. I technically have notes for two. But with everything, it takes to write one (I’ve been lucky enough to help Gina revamp 30 Days or Less to Virtual Assistant Success over the last month) I don’t think I’d have it in me to write two entire courses at one time.

After that, I go wherever the wind takes me, Kitten. (10 points if you know what movie that’s from!) Maybe I’ll pen a memoir or write the anthology I was working on when I found Gina back in August. Whatever happens, good or bad, I’ll do like I always do. I’ll learn something from it and share it with those coming up the road behind me.

A Note: You don’t have to be a mom to join the Mamapreneur Mastermind Group. Women with and without kids are members! While closed as of press time, it’s due to open up for members soon.

Don’t get left behind! Get your name down on the waiting list, so you’ll be ready to join. It’ll cost you nothing to get on there. And you won’t owe any dues until you formally join.

Like Gina always says, “Why not you, why not now?” There’s no better time than right now to jump in the deep end. Reach out to me via my Contact Me page or on Facebook, Twitter, Google +, Pinterest, or on LinkedIn and keep me posted.
