My January and February 2016 Income Reports Kicking Butt and Taking Names

FD - Jan And Feb - Pic

You may have noticed I’ve been rather ghostly lately. Please rest assured I’m okay. I suffered a few personal setbacks last month. Believe it or not, they actually worked to sharpen my focus and keep me on track toward my financial goals. Doors opened up for me that wouldn’t have otherwise done so. Some might call it luck. I choose to believe that I’ve learned enough in my journey thus far to have brought about the best possible results I could have given that situation.

Just like in my last income report, I’m happy with my results. I’ll break them down for you for each month. Then, I’ll end with February’s numbers and my hopes as I move onward into March. more My January and February 2016 Income Reports Kicking Butt and Taking Names

Living Fearful How I Fell Down In Life and Got Back Up Again

living fearful - dionaIt’s been way too long since I’ve had a great contribution from a terrific writer! To fix that, I’ve asked Diona Culbertson of Mommy Ways to Win and Write Now Matters to join us on The Freelance Dance.

She’s here today to talk about spiritual healing and the power of hope. Take it away, Diona!

As a child, who would I have told that I was a product of a troubled home life? I was taught at a young age to never bring up the family’s dirty laundry. So I grew up learning how to keep my mouth shut. more Living Fearful How I Fell Down In Life and Got Back Up Again

Christmas and Forward

There’s so much to celebrate and be grateful for this Christmas. I may not be rich in material things, but I have a firm sense of direction, one I haven’t had since I was a student at Texas A&M.

Knowing where I’m going means more to me than anything I could ever hope to buy. Thanks to Gina Horkey, I have a plan for my life and for expanding my business. more “Christmas and Forward”

My October & November 2015 Income Statement Kicking Butt and Taking Names

Nov Inc

Here’s a lesson I learned from Gina Horkey: Post your income reports. She says she admires when others do it, and it’s one thing that attracted me to the course in the first place.

By sharing and being open with the good, bad, and ugly of the freelance world, you can help guide others by helping them avoid the same mistakes you’ve made. I’ve learned a lot from Gina. I owe much of it to Gina’s course, 30 Days or Less to Freelance Writing Success. more My October & November 2015 Income Statement Kicking Butt and Taking Names

My Sweet November: Day 27 Diversify Your Business

DIVERSIFY

Diversifying your online business opens up income streams you wouldn’t otherwise have access to. Expanding your business is a no-brainer. For example, this WordPress struggle I’ve been on has me seriously thinking about writing a course and offering Web design services as part of my business’ offerings.

In 27 days, I’ve already opened up another possible income stream other than writing and editing. Whether or not I choose to take my business there, the option exists. more My Sweet November: Day 27 Diversify Your Business

On Effective Cold Pitching

15572501777_856d525266_o

Most of the pitches I’ve sent out have been cold pitches in which I’ve had to propose topics to a prospective client. At first, this felt uncomfortable for me. I’d become anxious, afraid that I’d made the greatest, dumbest typo in history before hitting the Send button. I still remember the first time I pitched The Huffington Post. I nearly hyperventilated! more “On Effective Cold Pitching”

The Thanksgiving Holiday 2015

IMG_0192

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and I have something HUGE to be grateful for.

Yesterday, I submitted to and was accepted by The Write Life!!! It’s almost too much to believe. 24 days in and I made it into one of my favorite resources for freelance writers! I’m ecstatic! And I’m optimistic about the future.

In recent days, my health has declined. Setbacks happen. Otherwise, I’m doing quite well. Despite this, I wanted to post this because I feel that some may be wondering about what’s next for The Freelance Dance.

Well, here it is! more “The Thanksgiving Holiday 2015”
